As reported recently in the Baltimore Business Journal, the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation is now accepting workforce development planning grant applications of up to $25,000 for its Employment Advancement Right Now (EARN) Program.

The initiative was proposed by Gov. Martin O’Malley and approved by the 2013 General Assembly in an effort to have workforce development training be driven by jobs that need to be filled in the state.  It includes $4.5 million in state funds for two phases.  Planning grants are due November 12, and implementation grants will be due March 31.
